When is the best time to fly to Sweden?

Peak season:

Due to its geographical location, Sweden has very long days during the Summer and very short days in the Winter. You’ll find the best times to visit are between June and August as the weather is warm and sunny. Whilst you might struggle to find cheap flights to Sweden then you’ll benefit more from the climate. There are many airlines that provide cheap flights to Sweden. Ryanair, British Airways, Norwegian Air and Finnair are just a handle of them. Before you have booked your flights to Sweden it’s worth comparing the airlines a little to see which one will benefit you the most. British Airways for example do offer complimentary food and drink onboard all of their flights to Sweden whereas Norwegian provide free WiFi for the entirety of the flight. If these kinds of perks don’t encourage you to purchase your flight tickets off on or the other then a budget airline like Ryanair might be better suited. You’ll be sacrificing a bit of comfort but you’ll ultimately pay less money for your flights to Sweden.

How to get from the airport to the city centre?

Stockholm:

The airport is around 40km away from the capital of Stockholm. One of the quickest and most efficient ways of travel would be to use the Arlanda express. This train takes you directly from the airport to the city centre and runs every 15 minutes or so. You’ll find the platform underneath the arrival terminals. There are also the Flygbussarna Airport Coaches that take a little longer than the train but they are slightly cheaper and also run frequently. If you don’t like the idea of public transport or if you have a lot of baggage then you can get a taxi from the airport however the price will be considerably more expensive than the train.

Malmo:

You have two options really to get to the city. Either once you have booked your flights to Sweden you go ahead and arrange for a Flygtaxi, or an air taxi, to pick you up and take you to the centre or you get a bus. You can jump in a taxi as you get off the plane after your flights to Sweden but by arranging with the air taxi beforehand you’ll get better rates. The buses run twice every hour and if you pre-book your tickets online before you travel then you’ll find discounted prices are available.

Gothenburg:

Generally you’ll land at the Landvetter Airport in Gothenburg. It’s around 25km away from the city and there are a couple of different options you can make. Three times every hour you can get a bus from the airport to the city, on average it takes around half an hour but during the busiest times of the day this might take longer. Taxis are your alternative option and they are great if you have a lot of luggage or if there are 3 or 4 of you to split the fare, otherwise they’ll be very expensive. Make sure you agree on the fee before you get in to avoid being overcharged.
