Book flights to Lagos and join other sun-worshippers getting a dose of vitamin D on the city’s fine beaches. Situated on the Gulf of Guinea, Lagos is Nigeria’s (and indeed Africa’s) largest city and home to over 5 million people. Known for its beaches, nightlife and shopping (markets and malls), a holiday in Lagos will never be dull. This is the cultural and economical powerhouse of Africa so whether it’s arts and music, or museums and restaurants you’re after, Lagos will deliver. In saying that, it probably isn’t a destination for a family holiday. The weather in Lagos is consistently hot throughout the year with temperatures averaging from the mid-20Cs to the mid-30Cs. Lagos receives most of its tourism between October and January, the population tends to double in the summer. February and March are the hottest months and you can get accommodation bargains after the tourist season ends. Easter and Ramadan are busy times requiring travellers to book their flight tickets a couple of months in advance.
The rainy seasons (April to July / October to November) are a great time to find the cheapest flights to Nigeria. The wettest month is June, so hotel rates dip to attract visiting tourists who don’t mind the hot, steamy weather.
