COMPLETE ROBBERY!!!, at Lisbon airport prepaid my 3 week rental for €500. Arrived 1 day late and was told the rental agreement was no longer valid?! Lunacy, how can a car that I paid for already, not be available? I had to re-rent at the counter for DOUBLE the amount! €1000 for the exact same car I had rented for €500, which of course they available, amazing coincidence. After contacting Sixt, they refunded the €500of the initial rental, they should have refunded the €1000. TOTAL SCAM!!! Taking advantage of travellers, like this, shame on you.

Pick up in Porto was 2.5 hours?? Staff everywhere but not completely sure what they were doing. One minute there are three people checking you in, next minute there was one. When we arrived it took them 40 minutes to process the two couples at the desk - very frustrating.

Kayak said I was booking a 5 series BMW, but Hertz told me at the counter that Kayak does that all the time. Instead they gave me an all electric Polestar 2. It was actually super fun to drive and really easy to recharge, so I was happy with it. But if you book through Kayak expecting a BMW, you’ll be in for a surprise.

Confirm if there is basic insurance prior to confirming the booking. Ended up paying another 80 Euro just to ensure I had any insurance whatsoever

Staff were friendly. Having booked a BMW 3 Series car category I was offered an Alfa Romeo , this car offered was a joke, far too old, badly damaged with scratches everywhere and front bumper hanging off. Car also had nearly 100k kms on clock.....this is not what I expected from EuropCar - I declined to accept it and then was offered a slight upgrade to a VW arteon for another € 500, another joke. Finally after wasting 45 minutes hanging around waiting to get this sorted I was offered a Ford Kuga , definite downgrade but in good condition and reasonably new (30k KM's) so I accepted just to get out of the place and on the road. Overall very disappointed in EuropCar

This office in Lisbon was staffed by really helpful and friendly guys, and the transaction was super smooth and easy and fast on both ends. The car was great and the price we got online was excellent. The only problem we had is I didn’t realize Portuguese law apparently requires rentals to be made in exact 24 hour periods, so we had to bring the car back earlier than we wanted or pay another day, which would cost more than the two days we booked in advance and didn’t really make sense.
